RespectAbility’s federal policy advocacy is often done in coalition, ensuring the input of people with disabilities and the power of the disability community at large is appreciated at the federal level. Check out our latest advocacy highlights working in partnership with the Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities:
Designating People with Disabilities as a Health Disparity Population
We urged the National Institutes of Health to formally designate people with disabilities as a health disparity population. This proposal would help to reduce health disparities and promote health equity for people with disabilities. This would also align with broader efforts to promote equity for those who are multiply marginalized.
Supporting Federal Funding for Dental Care for People with Disabilities
We pushed for increased access to dental care for people with disabilities, including the need for routine checkups and hygiene appointments as important preventative measures for overall health.
LGBTQI+ Rights, Call for Comprehensive Non-Discrimination, Care, and Accessibility Measures
With the harmful uptick in policies creating inequity for the LGBTQI+ community, we signed onto a coalition letter to denounce discrimination harming those who identify as queer and disabled and to uphold the rights of every member of the LGBTQI+ community.
