National Leadership Program, Fall 2023
Lydia Moro (she/her) was a Communications Fellow in RespectAbility’s National Leadership Program for Fall 2023. RespectAbility is a nonprofit organization fighting stigmas and advancing opportunities so that people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of community.
Moro graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. During her time at York, she was very involved with her college’s Best Buddies chapter. The friendships Moro made through Best Buddies helped her discover her passion for disability advocacy and inclusion.
For the past year, Moro has been learning American Sign Language (ASL). It has been an important opportunity to connect with the Deaf community in her area. She plans to continue to learn ASL and use the skills learned from RespectAbility to promote inclusion for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.
One of her goals from this fellowship is to gain the skills and knowledge to create inclusive digital content. She hopes to serve as a resource within her community by sharing that knowledge with local organizations to make their digital spaces more inclusive.
Moro is an avid outdoor enthusiast. In her free time, she enjoys camping, hiking, and exploring state and national parks. When not outdoors, she enjoys doing puzzles, hanging with her cat, and watching America’s Got Talent.
