Shea Mirzai

First generation Iranian-American Person Who Stutters, and LGBTQ+ writer/producer, Shea Mirzai is a four-time honoree of Franklin Leonard’s annual Black List and Co-Chair of the WGA’s Disabled Writers Committee. Mr. Mirzai has written features for Overbrook, Sony, and Tucker Tooley of Tooley Entertainment. He is also Executive Producer of Nat Geo’s ORIGINS: THE JOURNEY OF HUMANKIND. After selling action-drama feature spec RUTH to AGC Studios and being hired to reboot the AMERICAN PIE franchise at Universal, Shea launched Space Coyote Productions, a full-service production company of which he is the founder & CEO.

An activist and speaker as well, Shea has spoken at renowned venues like Los Angeles Comic Con and the CAA Foundation, highlighting the ways in which Disabled creatives deserve to be seen and heard, and held a series of guest lectures across various organizations such as The 1in4 Coalition, The BRIC Foundation, Roadmap Writers, RespectAbility, ReelAbilitiesNY Film Festival, and many more. While working to foster further equity and inclusion in front of and behind the camera, Mirzai also hopes to bring similar change to the workplace in general, as well as across political and educational spheres, to deconstruct the myths, misconceptions, and misnomers wrongly surrounding Disabled people and their circumstances.

A graduate of the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Film & Media Studies and African-American Studies, Shea cut his teeth in the film industry working for mini-major studio Relativity Media first as a Story Analyst and, later, as Head of the Story Department from 2008-2015. Most recently, Shea was hired to staff on WORLD OF MARVELS at WarnerMedia and HBO Max, a half-hour adventure series based on Middle Eastern High Fantasy. Mirzai is repped by Zero Gravity Management and Brecheen Feldman Breimer Silver & Thompson
