Maia Foster
Maia J. Foster is the Associate, Partnerships and Learning, at the disability advocacy nonprofit organization Disability Belongs™.
Foster is an educator, advocate, and entrepreneur with an unwavering commitment to equity, visibility, and innovation in the disability advocacy space. With a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Mercer University and a degree in Social Work from Oakwood University, Foster has developed a diverse skill set that spans education, marketing, public relations, business, and finance. This multifaceted background allows her to approach advocacy through a strategic, yet deeply empathetic lens.
As a passionate advocate for inclusion and accessibility, Foster draws from both her professional expertise and personal experience in navigating spaces that were not always designed with everyone in mind. She is a co-founder of the Disability Support Services student organization at Oakwood University and played a pivotal role in establishing a partnership with DREAM (Disability Rights, Education, Activism, and Mentoring), the national organization for disability advocacy in higher education. Her work has focused on elevating marginalized voices and creating pathways for greater access, while also fostering connections between culture, community, and systems.
At Disability Belongs™, Foster brings her global perspective, creative strategy, and compassionate leadership to help drive the organization’s mission forward. She is dedicated to ensuring that people of all abilities are recognized for their unique gifts and contributions and believes that storytelling, education, and representation are key to achieving this vision.
In addition to her work in advocacy, Foster is also a professional vocalist, musician, and songwriter. Her artistry blends genres such as jazz, classical, R&B, gospel, and neo-soul, creating powerful, purpose-driven narratives through music. She believes in living a life led by faith, creativity, and impact which are principles she integrates both personally and professionally.
Foster’s work is a testament to her belief that the intersections of advocacy, business, and creativity can transform lives and communities, inspiring others to see and embrace the value in diversity and inclusion.
