Hello!
I am writing to ask for your urgent help. We want Members of Congress to know that they have constituents who care about job opportunities for people with disabilities. Thus, can you please take a few moments to write an email to your member of Congress to ask them for their plan to enable people with disabilities to get a job? You can find your member of Congress here. Please send a note to your member of Congress to let them know that:
- people with disabilities want to work and you want people with disabilities to have the opportunity to achieve the American dream.
- Hiring people with disabilities can also make companies more profitable. Nationally Walgreens, hospitals, AMC theaters, EY and others have found this to be true as employees with disabilities, when aligned with their talents and interests, are productive, loyal and successful. It’s win-win.
- Enabling people with disabilities to get jobs can save billions for taxpayers as today 70% of working age Americans with disabilities are outside the work force, and 9 million of them are currently living on government benefits.
In addition to your note, please call the Congressional switchboard at 1-202-224-3121 or 202-225-3121 and ask to speak to your Member of Congress on these issues. Even if you do not know the name of your Member of Congress, the switchboard will be able to connect you to the right office.
Thanks for taking the time to make a difference!
With appreciation,
Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi
