Chanthen Nene
Chanthen Nene is a rising filmmaker, recent film school graduate, and an avid advocate for low vision/blind individuals in the film industry. He helped create several short films and is the host of his own YouTube cooking channel.
Two Virginia Governors appointed Nene to the Virginia State Rehabilitation Council, which promotes the well-being of individuals with disabilities. He was also a mentor to people with various disabilities, ranging from those with autism to completely blind individuals.
Nene’s passion for filmmaking and storytelling has led him to positions as Assistant Director on various SAG-AFTRA short films and Production Assistant for a marketing video for a technology firm. He developed, designed, and maintained a multi-platform social media presence for a podcaster. Kurta Pants, one of the films he was the Assistant Director for, has been screened in 20 film festivals across 5 countries and has won 10 awards to date. He would like to one day start his own studio that gives opportunities to the talents of disabled people.
