Kylee Tyndall was a Faith Inclusion and Belonging Fellow in RespectAbility’s National Leadership Program for Spring 2023. RespectAbility is a national nonprofit organization fighting stigmas and advancing opportunities so that people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of community.

Tyndall was born in Gresham, Oregon but grew up in Santa Rosa, California. She is currently a Junior at Syracuse University majoring in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies and minoring in in Disability Studies. RespectAbility is giving her the opportunity to advance in a field she is studying and very passionate about.

During her Fellowship, Tyndall wants to make her own community in Syracuse more accessible, specifically but not limited to the religious community. She recently went abroad to London and noticed a lot of accessibility issues often brought up in her disability study classes. She also noticed teachers bringing up most minority groups but leaving out disabled individuals. With this in mind, she has shifted a lot of focus to the disabled community because no one deserves to be left out of conversations.

In the future, Tyndall sees herself as a child trauma therapist and a human rights advocate focusing on gender and disability rights. She is passionate about reform in the education system specifically because she feels that is where a lot of prejudices can be changed before they are created.

In her free time, Tyndall enjoys cooking, knitting, and painting. She also enjoys exploring new places and traveling. During her semester in London, she was able to see five different countries and cultures. She loves working with children and animals and hopes to combine these interests in her therapy practice as a professional.
