Emily Snodderly was a Policy Fellow in RespectAbility’s National Leadership Program for Spring 2023. RespectAbility is a nonprofit organization fighting stigmas and advancing opportunities so that people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of community.

Snodderly has always had a passion for justice. Her experience in college opened her eyes to several critical issues of injustice, including discrimination, inaccessibility, and stigma against people with disabilities. At the same time, she encountered many people and organizations who were working to combat these injustices. She was inspired to spend her career creating a thriving community where everyone is welcome and treated fairly.

She began in the nonprofit sector by leveraging her research skills to increase support and improve outcomes for at-risk youth, especially youth in foster care. She has also written grant proposals to support life coaching for at-risk youth and employment training for people with disabilities. She particularly enjoys researching and writing about how policy and practice affect marginalized populations and is interested in a career in policy analysis or program evaluation.

This spring, Snodderly will graduate college with a Bachelor’s Degree in sociology and move directly into earning her Master’s in Public Administration with a concentration in public policy. She is excited to pursue justice for people with disabilities and other marginalized populations through local government or nonprofit work.
