Elizabeth Kim (she/her) was an Entertainment and News Media Fellow in RespectAbility’s National Leadership Program for Spring 2023. RespectAbility is a nonprofit organization fighting stigmas and advancing opportunities so that people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of community.

Previously, Kim lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan working as an Associate Account Manager at Google. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pennsylvania, where she developed her passion for deaf/disability advocacy. Kim’s experience with the Lime Connect Fellowship inspired her to co-found a disability community at her college, called Disability Advocacy @ Penn (DAP).

Through a serendipitous connection, Kim met more college students passionate about the intersection of disability and Asian-American identity—a complex sphere that is yet to be properly explored. They formed the Executive Team that started The Asian Americans with Disabilities Initiative (AADI), reaching official 501(c)(3) status by the end of 2021. As Director of Outreach and Chair of Board of Directors, Kim wanted to ensure AADI’s long-term success because it is a much-needed space.

In August 2022, Kim quit her job. She is excited to pivot into a new industry, learn from her peers, and hone her craft through the Fellowship. One of her long-term goals is to spotlight underrepresented voices through raw, empowering stories, whether it be through writing or sourcing scripts.

Outside of work, Kim loves photography, yoga, and reading.
