As we celebrate October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), RespectAbility is excited to share our Employer Spotlight Series, to take a closer look at how various employers are prioritizing disability inclusion. We were proud to celebrate Alaska Airlines with Steve Nelson, Senior Diversity and Inclusion Specialist. Nelson shared how Alaska Airlines is advancing equitable employment for people with disabilities in their organization.
Speaker Bio
Steve Nelson is a neurodivergent DEI Professional with a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership as well as professional certificates in Diversity Equity and Inclusion for Organizations and Ethical Leadership. For several years, Steve supported disability inclusion work at the Walt Disney World resort near Orlando, Florida. Steve has also served as an independent disability inclusion consultant for museums, zoos, and hotels across the globe, as well as for the 2016 Invictus Games in Orlando and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Currently, Steve leads the Disability Inclusion efforts at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air as a senior member of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion team.
