National Leadership Program, Fall 2021/Spring 2022
Corey Evans was an Entertainment and News Media Fellow in RespectAbility’s National Leadership Program for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022. RespectAbility is a nonprofit organization fighting stigmas and advancing opportunities so that people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of community.
Evans is a native Arkansan with a Mass Communications degree from the University of Central Arkansas and an MFA in Film Production from the University of Miami. He worked for KATV in Little Rock (ABC Affilliate) and WSVN in Miami (FOX Affiliate) as a news editor. In 2005, he moved to Los Angeles and worked at an industry leading production company, HSI Productions. While at HSI Productions, he worked on numerous commercials and music videos as a production coordinator. He also has a strong background in post-production, working as a vault manager. He is skilled in encoding, compressing, and media management.
Growing up with a visual disability, Evans experienced first-hand the misconceptions that are placed on people with disabilities. In 2016, damage due to glaucoma further compromised his vision and lead to a stalled career path. With the talented Staff at RespectAbility, Corey has been working to re-establish himself in the workplace. His career goal is to seek employment as a DEI (Diversity Equity and Inclusion) coordinator.
