Morgan A. Davis was a Public Policy Fellow in RespectAbility’s National Leadership Program for Summer 2021. RespectAbility is a nonprofit organization fighting stigmas and advancing opportunities so that people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of community.

Born with Cerebral Palsy, Davis has always felt a desire to help others impacted by disabilities. In 2013, she graduated as one of the five Valedictorians. Because of her outstanding academic grades, she was awarded an academic letterman’s jacket for her 4.0 GPA. As a high school student, Davis participated in local campaigns and also volunteered at both the Infant Crisis Center and the Oklahoma Food Bank. She accomplished all of this while also being a concurrent student, attending both high school and college.

Davis has always been involved in community activities. She served as a Page for both an Oklahoma State Representative and an Oklahoma State Senator. She was a graduate of the Oklahoma Leadership Forum, and served as a council member on the Oklahoma Developmental Disability Council, and as a graduate of Oklahoma’s Partners and Policy Making. In 2019, Davis was the recipient of the Oklahoma Black Girls Rock award presented by Perry Publishing Company. Davis graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2020.

Davis is particularly interested in intersectionality. As a disabled female of color, she understands the importance of bridging the gap between identities, in an effort to ensure that all aspects of a person are recognized and presented at various political and civic tables. Davis hoped that through this program, she will learn more about the intricate task of Policy as it pertains to disability. She also hoped to gain new perspectives that will aid her in not only Disability Policy, but Societal Policies as a whole.

Morgan exudes both competence and compassion. This is only one of the ways her passion to uplift, strengthen, and call to account humanity, writ large.
    Kudos Ms. Davis.
