It’s Just Respect

has been developed with input from persons with different types of disabilities and is rich with information and tips about communicating with and about persons with disabilities. The goal of sharing It’s Just Respect is to improve the experiences of people with disabilities by providing information about disability etiquette to people in the workforce and in communities.

It’s Just Respect is a program of MossRehab, a part of the Einstein Healthcare Network. MossRehab has demonstrated a commitment to advocating for persons with disabilities for over 100 years and is a leader in educating the community about disability etiquette. It’s Just Respect is a program whose mission is supporting the fully integrated lives of people with disabilities. Examples of individuals who have participated in MossRehab-led presentations include health insurance executives, special education teachers, high school students and teachers, healthcare clinicians, family members and local museum staff members.

Julie Anne Hensler-Cullen, RN, MSN is Director of Education, Quality and Advocacy at MossRehab. MossRehab, part of Einstein Healthcare Network, repeatedly ranks among the nation’s top 10 rehabilitation hospitals and is #1 in Pennsylvania by U.S. News & World Report. MossRehab provides specialized treatment for persons with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke and other neurological disorders, amputation and orthopedic conditions. MossRehab operates acute inpatient rehabilitation programs at six locations and over 20 outpatient sites throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

MossRehab has proven itself as a leader in educating the community about disability etiquette through its programming for children and adults. Representatives from MossRehab have provided presentations to many groups including, but not limited to health insurance executives, Philadelphia Corporation for Aging staff and volunteer Senior Companions, special education teachers, elementary and high school students, healthcare clinicians, restaurant workers and even local museum staff.

Hensler Cullen, who received her undergraduate nursing degree from Gwynedd Mercy College and a Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration from LaSalle University, has over 20 years experience working at MossRehab advocating for persons with physical disabilities. She is the proud recipient of the 2012 Rehabilitation Leadership Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities.
