Vivian G. Bass

is the Chief Executive Officer of The Jewish Foundation for Group Homes (JFGH), a non-sectarian, nonprofit agency based in Rockville, Maryland. She has been committed for over 30-years to improving the quality of life, independence, community inclusion and dignity of individuals with disabilities throughout the metropolitan Washington D.C. area, nationally and internationally. As JFGH’s CEO since 1995, Vivian is responsible for oversight of the agency’s 74 residential locations regionally which support adults in a variety of service delivery models as well as for two innovative transitional programs and two social/recreation programs for young adults. The agency, under Vivian’s leadership, has grown from under $5 million in total assets to over $26 million in 2014. As JFGH has become a model for more than 25 communities over five continents, Vivian has mentored these communities wishing to emulate the JFGH Program.

A Ruby Lion of Judah, Vivian has been bestowed numerous distinctions including: “Washingtonian of the Year”; Jewish Women International’s (JWI) Community Leadership/`Women to Watch’ Award; Distinguished Service Award by Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington (JCRC);  Maryland’s Top 100 Women; Jewish Federation of Greater Washington ‘Woman of Valor’ Award; Yeshivat Chovevei Torah Rabbinical School’s (YCT) `Lifetime of Service to the Jewish People’ Award; Potomac Community Resources (PCR) Patricia Sullivan Outstanding Professional Volunteer Award; and the Sulam School’s Distinguished Community Professional Award. Vivian has been sought as a speaker at a wide range of national and international conferences including the Jewish Council for Public Affairs National Plenum (JCPA), the World Congress on Disabilities in conjunction with the Paralympics, The National Organization on Disability (NOD), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Coalitions on Alternatives to Jewish Education (CAJE), the General Assembly (GA) of The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), and the International Lion of Judah Conference. She was a plenary speaker at the Annual Conference of the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD), the largest disabilities conference internationally.  She was requested by Best Buddies International to be a consultant in the launching of their chapters in Israel. On a volunteer basis Vivian serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Jewish Women International, and is a Board Member of The Jewish Council on Public Affairs (JCPA). Additionally she is a member of The Board of Directors of Leadership Montgomery, Maryland where she chairs the Governance and Ethics Committee, a founding member of The Board of Directors of Potomac Community Resources- a disabilities organization which evolved from the local Catholic Community, and has been an actively engaged board/advisory board member in numerous other organizations.Vivian completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Special Education at The University of Michigan.
